Herman Schmidt, 78, of 924 Commercial St., Manitowoc, died Monday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be (underinked) ____ at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, the Rev. A.C. Fischer officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born April 6, 1878, in the Town of Rockland and was a painter by trade, having been employed in the Manitowoc area for more than 40 years. The major portion of that time he was employed in the painting division of the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc.

Surviving are a brother, George of Appleton; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Boettcher and Mrs. William Grimmer of Appleton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 o'clock this Tuesday evening.
