Jun. 30, 1924--Died. Mrs. Annie Baird Curtis, 63, wife of Charles Curtis, U. S. Senator from Kansas; at Washington. Ill since 1915, for the past fortnight she had been unconscious.
Senator Curtis was also the 31st Vice-President under President Herbert Hoover.

Washington DC - Mrs Anna Baird Curtis, wife of Senator Charles Curtis of Kansas, died early today at her home here.
She had been ill for a number of years and had been unable to leave Washington even during the recesses of congress. Hope for her recovery had been abandoned for many months. The body will be taken to Topeka, Kansas tomorrow for burial.
During her residence in Topeka, Mrs Curtis won a reputation as a prominent club worker who was always eager to do her share in civic and philanthropic work. She was member of the Topeka Woman's Club, and was regarded as one of the pillars of that organization.
"There was never any time nor any kind of work, but what we could call on Mrs. Curtis and get a helpful response," said Mrs Eli G. Foster, president of the club, today when informed of Mrs Curtis' death.
She also belonged to two literary clubs, the Portia club and the Argonauts of North Topeka. She has served as an officer in both. She still was a member of the Minerva club at the time of her death.
As a member of the First Baptist Church, Mrs Curtis was a powerful leader in Sunday school work and other branches of church activity.
While a member of the the North Topeka Baptist Church before the family moved to 1101 Topeka Boulevard, Mrs Curtis sang in the choir. She was known as a musician of ability and often appeared in public as a soloist and duets.
Mrs Curtis was born near Altoona, Penn.; Dec. 24, 1860. She moved to Topeka in 1869 with her parents, Mr and Mrs John M. Baird. They resided at 921 North Kansas Avenue. Mr and Mrs Baird both are dead. She was married to Senator Charles Curtis November 27, 1884.
She is survived by three children, besides her husband; a brother Essington in Arizona and a sister Nettie Hunter in California. The children are Mrs Leona Webster Knight II, Rhode Island; Mrs Permelia George, Fort Myers, Virginia; and Harry King Curtis, New York City.
Funeral services will be held in Topeka at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at the First Baptist church, burial will be in the Topeka Cemetery.
