Singer, Songwriter, Musician. He was born Robert Dwayne Womack in Cleveland, Ohio, the third of five sons. He began his career as lead singer with his family musical group, The Valentinos (Friendly Womack Jr., Curtis Womack, Harry Womack and Cecil Womack). In the 1960s, the group was discovered by Sam Cooke, who later signed the group to his SAR Records label, they soon recorded "Lookin' For A Love." He was also Sam Cooke's backing guitarist. In 1964, the group was left in limbo when Cooke was shot and killed. In 1966, the group recorded two singles: "Do It Right," and "Let's Get Together." In 1971, Bobby signed with United Artists Records and released "That's The Way I Feel About Cha." He wrote and recorded The Rolling Stones' first UK (United Kingdom) #1 hit, "It's All Over Now." He is most notable for such recordings as: "Woman's Gotta Have It," "Harry Hippie," "Across 110th Street", "If You Think You're Lonely Now," "Where Do We Go From Here," and many more. In the early 1980s, his career slowed down partially due to his drug usage. In the mid 1990s, he released the album, "Resurrection" (1994) and he continued with his performance career. In 2009, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, however, The Valentinos were not inducted with him. In 2012, he released his first album in more than 10 years, "The Bravest Man in the Universe," produced by Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz).
