Burton C. Gordon, 86, a resident of Willowpark Residence, New Holstein, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, 2011 at Willowpark.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1924 in Arkansaw, Pepin County, Wisconsin, son of the late Thomas and Grace (Benton) Gordon.

Burt was a Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the South Pacific and Korea. During his time of service, he was awarded the Bronze Service Star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal as well as the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.

He married the former Dorothy Jane Kirchen on June 28, 1947 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc.

She preceded him in death on Oct. 27, 2010.

Burt was a member of the Construction Boilermakers Union 107 traveling throughout Wisconsin at various power plants and papermills. Burt was involved with the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Association as an active volunteer. He was also instrumental in awarding the fireman and policeman of the year award for both Manitowoc and Two Rivers. Burt was past president of the Two Rivers Elks and the Manitowoc Eagles, as well as serving on numerous committees and holding various offices. Burt made several trips to the VA in Tomah where he supplied the veterans with many personal and household items for which he personally campaigned from various businesses in Manitowoc County.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Gerald Nechodomu, Manitowoc, Pamela and Perry Craney, DePere; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Gordon, Two Rivers; eight grandchildren, Shane (Deanna) Nechodomu, Sheila Nechodomu, Jessica, Shannon and Shawn Gordon, Andrew, Rebecca and Donny Staudt, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Calvin Gordon; five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2011 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22 until 10:45 a.m.
