BRANNON, JANIE LUCILE MOSS, 98, died November 17, 2003. Mrs. Brannon was born in 1905 in Roaring Springs, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James Pinkney Moss and Jesse Thacker Moss. She was the wife of the late Dr. Robert Mitchell Brannon, Sr. Mrs. Brannon moved to Birmingham, Alabama, in 1922 and was employed by the Alabama Power Company. She and Dr. Brannon were founding members of Independent Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Brannon was very active in both inreach and outreach mission activities as a Deaconess and a Shepherd. In 1974, she served as Chairperson of the Board of Deaconesses. Her legacy to her family and friends exemplified a great zest for life, a humble nature, and a very deep faith in her Lord. Mrs. Brannon was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters, and three children: Betty Jean Brannon, Robert Mitchell Brannon, Jr., and Louise Dean Brannon. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: McKenzie Moss Brannon and Gene Miree Brannon of Durham, North Carolina; seven grandchildren: Susan, Elizabeth, McKenzie K., Rebecca, McKenzie A., Robert, and Michael and six great grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Brannon's faithful Christian life was held in the Henry M. Edmonds Chapel at Independent Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, on Saturday, November 22. Afterwards, the family received friends in the church parlor.
