The grandfather I never knew . . .
He died of pancreatic cancer ten years before I was born. To make his death all the more traumatic, my mother found out he had cancer only 3 weeks before he died.
Thankfully, he loved my mother very much and she still loves telling stories of how hard he worked as a Greyhound bus driver and how he loved helping the poor through his charitable works with the Volunteers of America.
I only wish I could have known you, Grandpa. There was always a huge void in my life. I hope that we can finally be together someday and talk about the old times together.
