Harvey Eugene Nicoli was born October 19, 1923 in Valley City, ND to Louie C. and Gertrude (Koehn) Nicoli. He went to grade school in Cuba Township and graduated from Valley City High School in 1941. He then went to Portland, OR and worked as a welder in the shipyards.

He joined the Merchant Marines in 1942 and was able to visit many ports throughout the world, delivering war supplies during WWII. He was discharged in 1945. He then came home to farm with his father and mother on land that was homesteaded by his grandfather in 1879.

Harvey married Louise Friedman in Baltimore, MD on May 31, 1947. In 1982, they retired and they spent their winters in Florida.

He was a member of the Eagles and American Legion. He served on the Cuba Township Board for many years and also served on the Farm Home Administration Board.

Harvey died of a heart attack at the Lisbon Hospital in Lisbon, ND on June 28, 2014.

He is survived by his three sons, Donald (Jody) of Gresham, Louis (Janet) and David (Laurie); also eight grandchildren, two great-grand children, and one sister. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife and two sisters.

He will be interred at Wilamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR.
