Sarah Lydia Green (4 Mar 1839 Marblehead, Essex, Mass - 22 Mar 1923 Newton, Middlesex, Mass) was a descendant of one of the founding families of Marblehead.

Her father was Major Joseph West Green (13 Dec 1793 Marblehead, Essex, Mass - 21 Jul 1874 Boston, Suffolk, Mass) who fought in the war of 1812, was a wholesale fish merchant and exporter in Marblehead and Boston, founded National Grand Bank at Marblehead and was a member of MA State Legislature. He was the son of Mishael Green (1765 – 1795) and Mary Pedrick (1765 – 1792). (Note Mary Pedrick first married Jonathan Thompson).

The Greens used to own all of Marblehead Neck and at one time owned 90 Clipper ships and the Chadbourne family inherited many of artifacts from the Green family including a grandfather clock, a portrait and several pieces of furniture and even glass from a lighthouse. Joseph Humphrey Chadbourne Jr's house had a brass doorknob from the Pedrick house and a Pedrick chair.

Sarah Lydia Green was regularly visited by her second cousin William "Will" Beltran de las Casas (3 Mar 1857 Malden, Massachusetts - 24 Mar 1930 Montreal, Quebec, Canada) son of Francisco Beltran de las Casas (Nov 1803 Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain – 31 Jul 1887 Malden, Massachusetts ) and Elizabeth Carder Pedrick (16 Sep 1810 Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, USA –29 Jan 1882 Marblehead, Essex, Massachusetts, USA). William "Will" Beltran de las Casas designed the whole Boston Metropolitan Park system. His father, Francisco Beltran de las Casas, was a Spanish privateer who fought in the Cuban war for Independence. His family claimed to descend from Spanish Huguenots and fled Spain at the time of the Inquisition.

Sarah's niece was Stacy Katherine Courtis daughter of Hannah Katharine Green and Stacy Courtis who married James Henry Crocker Richmond and her descendants are the Howland Heirs (see The Howland heirs; being the story of a family and a fortune and the inheritance of a trust established for Mrs. Hetty H. R. Green (1919))

She is also a descendant of Susanna Goody North Martin who was executed by hanging for witchcraft during the Salem witch trials on July 19th 1692.

Sarah's mother was Hannah (Hermiah) Goss (31 Jul 1793 Marblehead, Essex, Mass - 19 Nov 1865 Marblehead, Essex, Mass) daughter of John Goss (1741 – 1795) and Catherine Thayer (1768 – 1822) of Marblehead.

Sarah's parents, Major Joseph West Green and Hannah Goss had 14 children of which 12 children survived birth:

1) Adelaide Snelling Chadbourne (3 Mar 1859 Boston, Suffolk, Mass - 21 Sep 1881 Watertown, Middlesex, Mass) married Wendell Webster Patten (born 29 Apr 1850 in Watertown, Middlesex, Mass) son of Thomas Patten (1810 – 1839) and Mary Low Bradley (1819 – 1889). She died young and had no children. Wendell Webster Patten married second Mary E Sylvia and had five children.

2) Elizabeth "Lizzie" Courtis Chadbourn (3 Oct 1862 Boston, Suffolk, Mass - 31 July 1923 Ludlow, Windsor, Vermont). married Herbert Stone Davis (3 Sep 1851 in Brighton, Suffolk, Mass) and had four children: Addie Chadbourne Davis (1883 – 1981) Eliza "Etta" Georgetta Davis (1884 – 1963), Herbert Stone Davis (1888 – 1968), Lewis Green Davis (1894 – 1971).

3) Joseph Humphrey Chadbourne (22 Jun 1864 Springfield, Hampden, Mass - 7 May 1926 Cambridge, Middlesex, Mass) married Bessie Leonard (4 Aug 1869 Easthampton, Hampahire, Mass - 23 Aug 1936 Cambridge, Middlesex, Mass) daughter of Granville Hall Leonard (1833 – 1903) and Eliza Anne Pratt Buffam (1833 – 1921). Joseph Humphrey Chadbourne and Bessie Leonard had four children: Emily Roxana Chadbourne (1897 – 1978), Elizabeth Beebe Chadbourne (1899 – 1978) and Joseph Humphrey Chadbourne (1900 – 1975).

4) Fanne Swift "Anna" Chadbourne (13 Jul 1867 Watertown, Middlesex, Mass - 25 Apr 1925 Rochester, Strafford, N.H.) married Albert Wallace (6 Jun 1854 N.H. - 28 Sep 1916 Rochester, Strafford, N.H.) son of Ebenezer Gowell Wallace (1823 – 1893) and Sarah Esther Greenfield (1828 – 1900). 5) Henry Robinson Chadbourne, Jr (21 Oct 1872 Watertown, Middlesex, Mass - Sep 1968 Hopkinton, Middlesex, Mass) married Anna Gertrude Ferris (17 Jun 1887 Dracut, Middlesex, Mass - Apr 1967 Hopkinton, Middlesex, Mass) daughter of Joseph Ferris (1859 –) and Mary Josephine Sullivan (1863 –).
