Obituary
Joy Sibley Paone, 95, an Annapolis resident since 1948, and previously of Waxahatchie, TX, died July 3 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was born April 23, 1919 in Lee County, TX to her late parents, Emerson Scarborough Sibley and Martha Pritchard. Joy graduated from nursing school in 1942, with an RN from the Scott & White School of Nursing, now part of Baylor University. A homemaker most of her working life, she also periodically worked as an RN at Anne Arundel Medical Center when needed. Active in the Annapolis community, she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, The Ladies of St. Mary's, Mothers Club at Gonzaga College High School, the Naval Academy Garden Club and volunteered at the Charles Carroll House and the Home Health Care group at Heritage Harbour. Joy was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Baltimore Orioles, the Ravens and Navy sports. In addition, she enjoyed gardening. Joy was precede in death by her husband in July 2006, Dr. Rocco M. Paone, whom she married in July, 1943. She was also predeceased by six brothers and sisters.
Joy is survived by four sons, The Honorable Frederick M. Paone of Annapolis, MD, Rocco M. Paone, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Dr. Ralph F. Paone, MD of Lubbock, TX, and Michael A. Paone of Annapolis; four daughters, Grace Paone Smith of Altamonte Springs, FL, Ann Marie Paone of Melbourne, FL, Lucia Paone Hopkins of Annapolis, MD and Elizabeth Paone Rotellini of Savannah, GA; one brother, Patrick A. Sibley of Midlothian, TX; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
