~Hermann was the son of Hermann Baetz and Martha Kroebel. He had a twin sister, (name unknown) who died when about 2 years of age. They were born in the village of Krosigk, in the District of Saalekreis, which today is a part of the municipality of Petersberg. Hermann fought in WW I while still a citizen of Prussia (Germany), and lost the sight in his right eye from a war injury. Hermann lived in Bitterfield, Dist Ahalt-Bitterfield, Saxony, Prussia (Germany), when he emigrated from the Port of Hamburg, Prussia (Germany), aboard the ship Albert Ballin, arriving at the Port of New York on 1 June 1925. Hermann never married. Hermann's father, Hermann Baetz, was a quarry master in the Harz Mountains, Uftrungen, Saxony-Anhalt, Prussia (Germany). He was killed as a result of a dynamite explosion, in February of 1905 ~
