MORTON - Jo Ann Hanselman, 73, of Morton passed away at 9:12 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Jo Ann was born Jan. 16, 1941, in Marion, Ill., to Howard and Louise (Monti) Haynes. She was raised in her early life by her mother and stepfather, Robert Dotson. Jo Ann married Charles R. Hanselman on May 26, 1962, in Marion. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1993.
Surviving are one son, Steven Hanselman of Peoria; and one half brother, Roger Dotson of Decatur.
Jo Ann had worked as a clerical aide at Jefferson and Grundy schools in Morton. She also worked at the Book Emporium in Morton.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton.
Jo Ann knew no stranger and she had a contagious smile.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton, with the First Baptist Church ministers officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Peoria or to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society in Pekin.
