Funeral services for Mr. Robert J. Simmons, 72, will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Crystal Springs Baptist Church in Dexter with Reverend Danny Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Simmons passed away at his residence in Tylertown, Mississippi on Sunday, July 6, 2014. He was born March 22, 1942 to the late Offie and Emily Johnson Simmons. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by wife Cecil Glynn Sumrall Simmons; an infant son and several sisters and brothers.

He was a part of the Crystal Springs Baptist Church family. He was a foreman for the Asphalt Division of APAC for 35 years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and fishing with his grandchildren. He loved to meet the local men at the Dexter store to visit and "acquire an education". In his younger years he loved to ‘coon hunt.

Survivors include his daughters Lawana S. Roberts and husband Tony and Janet Vince and husband Jason; grandchildren Trey and Jonae Roberts and Jonathan and Judson Vince; and sister Faye Loukas of Livingston, Texas.

Visitation will be at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 8 from 4– 8 P.M. and at the church from 10 A.M. until service time there at 11.
