George Washington Akin was born in Louisville KY. He moved to Lincoln County around 1889 and then to Pulaski Co. in 1902.

George married Rosa Jo Ealy on 4 July 1889 in Lincoln Co, Ky. They had three daughters, Alice Lee, born in 1890, Mary Margaret born in 1891 and Susie Francis Akin born Jan 1894. All three daughters were born in Lincoln Co, Ky. George moved his family to Pulaski County after 1901.

George W Akin age 32 (born Dec 1867 KY), Rose J Akin age 28(born Nov 1871 KY), Alice Akin age 10 (born May 1890 KY), Maggie Akin age 8 (born Oct 1891 KY), Susie Akin age 6 (born Jan 1894 KY), Helen M Akin age 63 (born April 1837 KY).

The 1910 census in Somerset Ward 6 Pulaski County records the following Information:
George W Akin age 41, Rose Akin age 38, Alice L Akin age 19 (daughter of George and Rosa), Mary M Akin age 18 (daughter of George and Rosa), Susie F Akin age 16 (daughter of George and Rosa), Kate Ealy age 54 (census shows her a sister in law to George Akin), and George Ealy age 34 (census shows him a brother in law to George Akin).
Rose, Kate, and George are siblings. Their surname is Ealy and this census records their father was born in West Virginia, and their mother was born in KY.

Rosa J Ealy died on 17 April 1919 in Pulaski County KY and is buried in the Somerset City Cemetery in the Akin family plot.

George was a widower when he married Violet Elizabeth Lowe on Dec 16, 1925 in Pulaski Co, Kentucky. They had three children.

This is the (GW) George Washington Akin obituary from November 10, 1934 in Commonwealth Journal, Pulaski County, Kentucky, provided by the Pulaski County Historical Society.

"Mr. G. W. Akin 65 years of age died at 5:30 o clock Saturday afternoon at his home on High Street after an illness of about one year. He was the son of George T and Mollie Smith Akin and moved here a number of years ago from Lincoln County. He was employed as a machinist's helper at the Southern Railway Shops. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home with Rev. W. E. Hunter and Rev T. C. Duke in charge. Burial took place in the City Cemetery. Mr. Akin was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and father and had many friends throughout the community who mourn his loss. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children."

The grave is unmarked.
