Walter A. (Wally) Brefczynski, age 79, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on December 18, 1934 in Manitowoc, son of the late Vincent & Catherine (Szymczyk) Brefczynski. Wally was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1952. He was a Veteran of the United States Marines serving a tour of duty overseas from 1952 - 1955 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. On June 5, 1954 he married the former Patsy Ann Hutchison in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2011. Wally was employed at Mirro Aluminum Corporation and Manitowoc Engineering as a Tool & Die Maker. The couple also owned and operated Wally's Linger Bar and The Fawn Supper Club. He was a member of the Eagles #706, AmVets Post #99 and the Manitowoc County Tavern League. Wally enjoyed fishing, gambling and gardening and was an accomplished stained glass artist. He loved all dogs and they loved him. But most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his girls.

Survivors include his children: Jodi (Chris) Lewis, Two Rivers, Jaclyn (Lee) Rocklewitz, Mishicot, Jerril (Jeffrey) Rathjen, Manitowoc, Jilleen (John) Bodwin, Two Rivers; his grandchildren: Jennifer Posen, Dustin (Danielle) Kubsh, Hannah Lewis, Michael Rocklewitz and Lauren Free, Chad Rathjen and fiancé Lauren LeClair, Carissa (Erik) Luedtke; his great grandchildren: Brittieny, Alexis & Alden Posen, Arianna Kubsh, Lillianne Rocklewitz and baby Luedtke due in October; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Norbert (Carol) Brefczynski, Manitowoc, Mike (Elaine) Brefczynski, Manitowoc; two sisters: Grace Brefczynski, Manitowoc, Dorothy Schrammel, West Allis; a brother-in-law: Thomas Hutchison, Manitowoc; and three sisters-in-law: Andrea (Tom) Beschta, Kiel, Donna Brefczynski, Manitowoc and Marilyn Brefczynski, Florida. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Edward & Alois Brefczynski and a sister and brother-in-law: Mary (Albert) Kopidlansky Jr.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be Pastor Richard Runge. Immediately following the services, Military Rites will be accorded by AmVets Post #99. Private committal services will be held at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014. Friends may also call Friday morning at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center for the wonderful care extended to Wally and his family.

Wally brought joy and laughter to everyone he met and was loved by all. He had a large Facebook following who enjoyed sharing his posts that were filled with wit and wisdom. He made every day fun, spreading sunshine everywhere he went. He will be missed by many.
