Sam Houston Elliott was born on December 13, 1884 in Texas to Sanford and Mary E. (Rayno) Elliott. He was the youngest of their five children. He married Cora Eva Aldridge on May 6, 1906 in Mangum, Oklahoma. They had four children: James Sanford, Raymond William, Earl Sterling, and Dorotha Louise. He died on June 15, 1958 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 73 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
