Mother of famous Canadian Comedian John Candy.

CANDY, Evangeline (Van) - Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2009. Predeceased by her husband Sidney James Candy. Van, beloved mother of Jim and the late John Candy. Dearest sister of Fran and Ken and Barbara Aker. Mother-in-law to Rose Candy, grandmother to Jennifer and Christopher. Survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her kind spirit and generous smile will be missed by all.

Friends will be received at JERRETT FUNERAL HOME, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough (between Eglinton and St. Clair Aves. E.) on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. Van will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Toronto & Area Chapter of Osteoporosis Canada will be appreciated by the family.
