Kentucky Governor. He graduated from Transylvania University in 1818, studied law, was admitted to the bar and established a successful legal career in Georgetown, Kentucky. Entering politics, he was a member of the Kentucky State Senate (1851-62). When Governor Beriah Magoffin resigned from office and because there was no Lieutenant Governor at the time, Robinson, who was senate president, assumed the duties as a Democrat the 22nd Kentucky Governor, serving 1862-63. During his short term, he worked to institute the state as a supporter of the Union. However it being the Civil War, Kentucky was soon occupied by Confederate troops and the federal government’s policies on troop conscription's and military detainment's were imposed. After leaving office, he retired from politics, returned to his Scott County farm and practiced law. He also was chairman on the board of trustees for Georgetown College and served as president of the Farmers’ Bank of Georgetown.
