James E. Dunkelberger, 80, of Pershing Boulevard , Reading , died Friday, December 8, 2006, at 1:30 PM in Reading Hospital & Medical Center , West Reading , where he was a patient since October 20. Born November 4, 1926, in Cedar Top, Berks County , he was a son of the late Earl R. and Margaret M. (Hartman) Dunkelberger, and the husband of Phyllis M. (Haas) Dunkelberger for 50 years. A 1944 Mohnton High School and 1951 Albright College graduate, he was a World War II Army Corporal having driven ambulance for the 6 Medical Battalion. The owner/operator of Jim's Auto Body Shop, Reamstown, 1952-1982, he was past president of the Lancaster County Body Association, and last worked part-time for Advance Personnel, Reading. A member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington; life member of Gouglersville Fire Company; member of Dutchland Polkateers, Lititz; officer of "Dunkelbergers in America"; he was also a Cumru Township inspector of elections. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sisters, 2 brothers; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at 10:00 AM from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown, with The Rev. Dr. Alfred K. Schwerdt and The Rev. Marvin L. Harding officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens , East Cocalico Township , PA. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
