Edward the son of Frank Centeno Jr. and Mary B. Centeno of Los Angeles CA enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on March 29 1966 in Los Angeles CA. In Vietnam he was assigned to and served with Company L, 3d Battalion, 4ht Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

During the month of June the Battalion was operating in northern Quang Tri Province and on June 32, Company L was on patrol in the Cam Lo District near the vicinity of Cam Huong when it began taking sniper fire. Cpl Centeno was hit and killed by an enemy gunshot wound.
