Larry was born on January 4, 1939 in Sterling, Illinois, the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Lee) Thome. He was united in marriage to Judy Vermeire DePauw on June 12, 1971 in Geneseo, Illinois. Larry farmed in the Tampico area during his lifetime. He was a member of the Tampico United Methodist Church, the Tampico Lions Club and a life member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association. Larry was also a 40 year member of the Tampico Fire Department. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and going to his grandchildren's sporting games.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Tampico, Illinois; two sons Robert Thome of Rock Falls, Illinois, Jeff Thome of Tampico, Illinois; one daughter Sherry Bauer of Union Grove, Wisconsin; five grandchildren Andrew and Reece Bauer, Braeden, Logan and Hannah Thome; one sister Jerria (Neil) Cady of Rock Falls, Illinois; one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10 a.m.at Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Leanne Kaete, pastor officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Annawan. A memorial has been established to Tampico United Methodist Church and The Tampico Fire Department.
