US Congressman. He graduated from Westminster College in 1888 and taught school for several years. He graduated from the law department of the University of Missouri in 1892, was admitted to the bar, and practiced law in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was the city attorney of Warrensburg (1893 to 1895) and prosecuting attorney of Johnson County (1895 to 1896). Moving to Holden, Missouri, in 1897, he continued to practice law and was city attorney of Holden (1899 to 1900). In 1905, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-ninth Congress, serving until 1907. Unsuccessful for reelection, he served as president of the St. Joseph City police board in 1909, was city counselor of St. Joseph, Missouri (1913 to 1914), was prosecuting attorney of Lafayette County (1921 to 1925), and practiced law until his death at age 70.
