Mable "Sue" Jean Raps, 85, of Pleasant Plains, IL passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Vibra Hospital in Springfield, Ill.
She was born July 27, 1928, the daughter of Arlie and Ora Christie Hinds. She married Robert Darrell Raps on Sept. 1, 1948. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1, 1998, prior to Robert's death on April 4, 2000. Bob and Sue spent their half century together traveling, camping, and boating on the "Raps"ody.
Sue was a proud farmer's wife and active member of the Pleasant Plains community as a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunday school teacher, children's choir director, and 4-H leader. She enjoyed reading, quilting, puzzles, playing pinochle, and taking care of a variety of pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; sister, Arlene Hinds Walker; and brothers: Donald, Roy and Ray.
She is survived by one daughter, Robin Sue Raps (husband, Kevin) Krone of Pleasant Plains; one son, Rodney Dean (wife, Becky) Raps of New Augusta, Miss.; five grandchildren: Christopher Carter (wife, Lisa), Robert Raps, Sarah Raps, Jaymie Krone Babel (husband, Aaron) and Marjorie Raps Morganroth (husband, Michael); three step grandchildren: Jennifer, Jason and Justin Mitchell; two nephews, Jack and William; four nieces: Judy, Linda, Carole and Jeanine; and several great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25 and again on Saturday, July 26 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains, Ill., with the Rev. Donald Pritchard officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
