DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE E. BENNETT
- Mrs. Jane A. Bennett, relict of the late George E. Bennett, died on July 3rd at her home on Hamilton Ave. Her maiden name was Jane A. Megarey. She was born in New York City on May 13, 1839, and was therefore aged 83 years, one month and 20 days. She had been ill for several years, the cause being a stroke, from which she partly recovered. Her husband, George Elliot Bennett, former president of the Monticello National Bank, predeceased her five years ago. She was a most estimable woman. Three children survive. They are George M. Bennett, Edith C. and Mildred W. Bennett, living at Monticello.
The funeral was held at Monticello, Rev. Wm. Schroeder, of New York City, a former pastor, officiating. The body was taken to Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, on Thursday morning for interment.
