Funeral services for Allegra "Babe" Cornwell of Bonham will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 28, 2014 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel, Bonham, Texas. Pastor Loren DuBois will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Babe passed away at the age of 94 with her family by her side in Rowlett on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Born Lena Allegra Fleener on July 21, 1920 in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the daughter of Emmitt Fleener and Lena Bauer Fleener. She was a graduate of Paschal High School in Fort Worth. Babe married Glenn Edgar Cornwell on August 11, 1953, after meeting as co-workers at the Fort Worth Star Telegram during the late 1940's and early 1950's. He preceded her in death December 28, 1990. In their retirement, they enjoyed living at Lake Bonham and traveling to Europe and the Pacific Islands. Babe took pleasure volunteering as a tour guide for The Sam Rayburn House Museum during the 1990's. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and time with her family and grandkids. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Iris Society in Bonham.

Babe is survived by her 2 children, 3 stepchildren, five grandchildren and step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Babe supported children's health charities, and memorial gifts may be made in her name to Our Children's House at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, http://www.give.baylorhealth.com or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org

Babe Cornwell will lie in state at Wise Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm Sunday and Monday morning prior to services for visiting. In celebration of her life and happiness, attire is cheerful and casual
