Mr. John W. Chalmers, 405 North Poppleton street, a builder, died yesterday after a short illness of paralysis.
During the Civil war he served with the Confederate army in the Seventh Virginia Regiment under Captain Eaton. He was a member of the shield of honor.
Besides his mother Mrs. ELizabeth Chalmers, who is 81 years old, he is survived by his widow Mrs. Elizabeth Atkinson Chalmers, two daughters- Mrs. Charles W. Abrams,who arrived from Little Rock, Arkansas, shortly after his death,and Mrs.Henry Kreh- and three sons. Messrs Philemon, Charles, and John Chalmers.
The funeral will take place tomorrow from his home. The services will be conducted by Rev Edward Hayes of Franklin Square Methodist Church. Burial will be in London Park Cemetery
