Mrs. Hesselink was 88 when she died Saturday, August 26, 2006, in Tampa.
She was born Theresa Cornwell on September 8, 1917, in Greenville, to Franklin Cornwell and Lillie Mae (Whitaker) Cornwell. In 1932, the family moved to Rudyard, where she eventually was graduated from Rudyard High School in 1935, as valedictorian of her class.
She married Andrew Hesselink in South Bend, Indiana, May 6, 1936.
Mrs. Hesselink was a member of the Rudyard Bible Church, and a lifetime member of the Gideon Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, crocheting, baking, and playing games with her grandchildren.
She was survived by three sons and their families, Robert and Carolyn Hesselink of Sebring, Florida, Ronald and Julianne Hesselink of Rudyard, and Stephen Edward "Ed" and Linda Hesselink of Tecumseh; two daughters and their families, Barbara and Walter Wolcott of Tampa and Patricia and Jerry Kanerva of Kalamazoo; 13 grandchildren and their families, Kevin and Tanya Hesselink, Kimberly and Dan Falbo, Kerry and Tracy Hesselink, Randall and Alicia Hesselink, Rodney and Julie Hesselink, Rachelle and Vincent Anaba, Ronee Hesselink, Stephen and Nichole Hesselink, David and Ruth Wolcott, Kathy Wolcott Jones, Duane and Janet Kanerva, Tammie and Randy Burgett, and Darren and Angie Kanerva; 27 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vern Cornwell of Pickford, and one sister, Thelma Kooyer of Rudyard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Hesselink, in 1988, three brothers, Albert Cornwell, Glenn Cornwell, and Leonard Cornwell, and two sisters, Stella Green and Iris Harrison.
