Anderson Moredock, former treasurer of Greene county, and a well known farmer of near Rices Landing, died in a Pittsburgh hospital, Wednesday evening, July 27, at 10 o'clock. His death was due to complications and a general breakdown. He had been in failing health for a year. Mr. Moredock was a son of Simon and Mary Jane Moredock, and was born in Cumberland township, September 26, 1855, being aged almost 73 years. He had followed farming and stock raising all his life and was quite successful, performing the duties of farm life despite the fact that he lost one hand early in life as a result of a shotgun accident. In 1890 Mr. Moredock was elected county treasurer and served in that office three years. Beside holding the office of county treasurer he had served in various township offices almost continuously and was an auditor in Jefferson township at the time of his death. On January 18, 1884 he was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Moredock and they had resided in Jefferson township, except three years they were in Waynesburg while he was holding the office of county treasurer. Beside his wife he leaves one son, George R. Moredock, and a daughter, Mrs. Anna M. Hartley, both at home, and two granddaughters, Margaret and Sarah Hartley; also a brother and two sisters, Daniel Moredock, Mrs. Rebecca Dowlin and Mrs. Minerva Ammons, all of Rices Landing.
