Margaret Millar, a lifelong resident of Scotland, died at the end of spring in 1796. The warm breezes of summer waved goodbye to the departing bluebells as three little bairns and their da laid her to rest. Their beloved mum had just turned 29 years old.

Mourned by her father James Watt (who survived her by 23 years), Margaret would become the daughter of one of the most celebrated figures of the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. As recently as 2011--almost 200 years after his death--her father was inducted posthumously into the Scottish Engineering Hall of Fame. In the same year he was honored by the United Kingdom, whose premier Bank of England issued a £50 note engraved with images of his face and his marvelous steam machine. The new currency would serve as a constant reminder of the Great Inventor and his contribution to the world.

Margaret's relationship with her famous father has been preserved in the mountains of correspondence and other documents saved by faithful historians. Digitized for future generations, the entirety of James Watt's life and those closest to him has been collected, catalogued, volumized, and archived. [Biography by genealogygirl]
