Charles was the son of George Washington and Mamie (Rude) Lefler. He married Pearl I. Karnes in 1936 and they had three children: JoAnn, Charlene and George Edward.

Charles Edward Lefler, 48, of 9 High St. Zeigler, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Herrin Hospital.
Born Aug. 12, 1914, near Zeigler, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Lefler.
He was a farmer and former sawmill operator.
He leaves his wife, Pearl; mother, Mrs. Willard Dees of Zeigler; daughters, Mrs. Tom Leposky of Zeigler and Mrs. Lindell Grant of Du Quoin; son, George, at home; sister, Mrs. Gladys Short of Chicago; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Vantrease Funeral Home, Zeigler, where funeral arrangements are incomplete.
