He was married about 1887 to Mary Jane Adkinson (1867-1943), the daughter of Andrew Jackson Adkinson (1834–1899) and his wife Sarah Catherine (Logan) Adkinson (1840–1918).
A farmer, he was about 73 years old when he died of a combination of flu and pneumonia on January 5, 1929 at his home on Robertson and Walnut in Nashville. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
