LEWIS, Gwendolyn Dell Conn passed away on Wednesday, 6 August, in her home in Middletown, Ohio. Gwenn was born on 18 July 1927 in Middletown. She graduated from Middletown High School and from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mona and Harold Conn; her husband, Richard Lewis; and her son Richard. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia, and her son Stephen and his wife, Patty, as well as by seven grandchildren- Chris, Nick, and Meghan Lewis; Hal May; and Paige, Samantha, and Sydney Lewis-and three great grandchildren-Ben, Anna, and Scott. A loving wife and mother, Gwenn doted most on her grandchildren, who returned her love unconditionally. Gwenn was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a long-term volunteer at the Atrium Medical Center and at the Middletown Art Center, where she also served on the board. In addition, she volunteered at the Doty House and for Midfest. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the Middletown school system. Gwenn loved gardening and reading. She had a gift for friendship and will be missed by countless friends dating back to her girlhood, extending into college, and continuing throughout her adult life. Her warmth comforted many people who turned to her for advice and solace. She had style and liked nothing more than shopping for clothes and going out to lunch, whether with friends or family. The family will hold a private graveside service at Woodside Cemetery on Saturday, 16 August, at 11:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of Gwenn's life, at noon, at the Breitenbach-McCoy- Leffler funeral home, for friends.
