She was born in Stokes County on April 27, 1939, a daughter of the late Oliver Bishop Manring and Lillian Gordon Manring. Mary married Franklin Eugene Brown in March of 1955 and he preceded her in death in 1983. She was retired from Davis Furniture Company of High Point, where she was employed for many years. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary Eugene Brown and Everette Franklin Brown.
Surviving are her daughters, Vicky White and husband Bobby Stalbey of Trinity, Sherry Starkey of Thomasville, and Lessie Laney and husband Charles of Thomasville. Also surviving are sons, Donald Brown and wife Susan of High Point and Franklin Eugene Brown Jr. of Thomasville; sister, Pat Hinshaw and husband Paul of Trinity; brother, Winfred Ray Manring and wife Wanda of Thomasville. Mary also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Bynum Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in High Point.
