GETTYSBURG Nadine S. L. Hoffacker, 86, entered into God's care on Friday evening, July 4, 2008, at the Gettysburg Hospital. Nadine was married to William S. Hoffacker with whom she recently celebrated her 62nd wedding anniversary. She was born in Hanover June 10, 1922, to Charles and Celia Bollinger.
Nadine was a graduate of Hanover High School where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. She served in San Diego, Calif., as a WAVE during World War II.
Nadine will be sadly missed by her loving husband, six children, 11 grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren: William Hoffacker, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of New Oxford, and their children, Bill and Molly; Karen Hesson and her husband, Wayne of Naples, Fla., and their children, Stacey, Amy, and Ryan; Cindy Rodkey and her husband, Dave of Naples, Fla., and their children, Bliss and Troy; Mike Hoffacker and his wife, Brenda of New Oxford and their children, Justin and Kirk; Jody Slagle and her husband, Don of McSherrystown and their children, Jade and Chase; and Cathy Shelley and her husband, Rich of York. Nadine is also survived by her brother, Harold B. Bollinger; and nieces and nephews. Nadine worked at JC Penney where she retired after 16 years of service.
She was an avid sports fan loved the Orioles, but she especially loved following her children and grandchildren in their various sporting events and activities. Nadine was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and the care she gave to her family was the best gift anyone could receive. The memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Saint Marks Lutheran Church in Hanover. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to Asera Care Hospice or Saint Marks Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to Auer Memorial Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Harrisburg.
