Published in the Obituaries Book, The Ballard Yeoman, 1931-1935, Vol 1, Ballard-Carlisle Historical-Genealogical Society, pg 63, Friday, December 15, 1933 - Gene Simmons, age 42, died at his home in this city Saturday morning after a lingering illness of tuberculosis.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Charles Warford. Burial was in the Wickliffe Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Miss Louise, and three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Simmons was born and reared in Ballard County. He was married to Miss Ruth Mayberry, who preceded him in death four years ago. He was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge, who had charge of the burial.
