On Thursday last, Mrs. Roman, the widow of the late Hon. Jas. Dixon Roman, died after a short illness, at her residence in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Roman was one of the most intelligent and unassumingly kind and agreeable ladies of Hagerstown. About eleven years ago she lost her husband, a gentleman widely known to his ability as a lawyer, and in the course of a few years thereafter her only daughter, Mrs. Sally Baldwin, one of the most accomplished and cultured women of her day. About two years ago her only son, just on the eve of his graduation from Harvard College, came home and suddenly died. Now she is also suddenly taken away, the last of her immediate family.

Since the death of her daughter, she devoted her life to the care of her three small grandchildren.
