Monday 15 August 1921---GADSDEN EVENING JOURNAL: Wallace Bellenger, one of the best known citizens of Gadsden and a member of one of the city's leading families, died at his home on South Fourth Street Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock after a long illness.
The funeral will be held at the home at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon and the service will be conducted by Rev. Frank W. Brandon.
The burial will be at Forrest cemetery.
The deceased leaves a wife and one son, Merry Bellenger. W.G. Bellenger is a brother and there are numerous other relatives here and in other sections of the state.
He was the son of the late John M. Bellenger who was a famous railroad conductor thirty years ago. Wallace began his career as a conductor when he was only 18 years old. He ran the first train on the Rome & Decatur Railroad which is now a branch of the Southern between Gadsden and Rome, Ga. From there he was transferred to Selma where he became a conductor of the old E.T.V. & G. railroad, now the Southern. He ran the Selma division for years and retired to settle down in this city. He entered the drug business, establishing the present City Drug Store. He later retired from business on account of impaired health and for the past two years he has been an invalid.

Monday, 15 August 1921---GADSDEN DAILY TIMES NEWS: F.W. Bellenger died at his home on South Fourth Street Sunday morning at 7:30 following an illness of several months. He was 49 years old.
Mr. Bellenger has resided in Gadsden for the past 30 years moving here from Baton Rouge, La., with his parents, the late Captain John Bellenger and wife. For years he was a railroad conductor and remained on his run until his health failed.
Besides his wife the deceased leaves one son, Merry Bellenger, and one brother, Will Bellenger, and numerous other relatives.
The funeral will be held at the family home on South Fourth Street at 3:30 this afternoon and interment will be at Forrest cemetery.
A SHORT HISTORY
The deceased was born March 23rd, 1872 and began his career as a railroad conductor at the age of 18 years. He was the first conductor on the Rome & Decatur road and ran the first train over the road to Rome. After leaving Gadsden he went to Selma and was with the E.T.N. & C. railroad until he resigned and came back to Gadsden and started the City Drug Store, where he remained until his health failed. For the past two years, Mr. Bellenger has been an invalid.
