Ella Caroline Brown married Stoddert Caruthers, June 9 1888, Jackson, Tennessee.

On June 9, 1888 two of Tennessee's oldest and best families were united when Stoddert Caruthers and Miss Ella Brown, daughter of Judge Milton Brown, one of the first men intellectually, in Tennessee, were married in Jackson, Tennessee. Judge Milton Brown married Sarah Frances Torian, daughter of Scare Torian, and Jane G. Bailey. In 1910 the family was living in Jackson City, Madison County, Tennessee, and were listed as Ella B. Caruthers, head, age 49, widow, 5 children and 3 living, born Tennessee, own income; Medora, age 18, single, born Tennessee; Sarah, age 16, born Tennessee; and Ella B., age 15, born Tennessee.

In 1920 they were living in Jackson, Madison County and listed as Ella B. Caruthers, head, age 60, own home with mortgage, widowed, born Tennessee, no occupation; Medora, daughter, age 27, single, no occupation; Sarah, daughter, age 25, Ella B., daughter, age 23; and a boarder.

In 1930 the family was still living in Jackson City and they were listed as Medora Caruthers, head, own home valued $8000, age 36, single, no occupation; and Ella Brown Caruthers, mother, age 73, widowed, no occupation.
