MAJOR H. C. EVANS

Major Henry Clay Evans of the old Duquesne Grays of Pittsburgh, Pa., who took part in the Pittsburgh Plots of 1877, died yesterday at his home, 50 Montgomery Place.

He was born in Pittsburgh sixty-eight years ago and had been a resident of New York City for thirty-four years.

He was the New York agent of the Lorraine Steel Company, a subsidiary company of the United States Steel Corporation, and was a member of the Engineers' Club of Boston, the Lyres Club of New York, the Railroad Club of New York, the Crescent Club of Brooklyn, and the Street Railway Association.

He is survived by his wife, Grace Whiting; two sons, Ensign Henry Clay Evans, Jr., U.S.N. and Edward Whiting Evans, and a daughter, Mrs. Amides T. Haviland.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. at his late home, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

✞ Major Henry Clay Evans is buried in the family plot at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. Twenty seven years after his passing, he was joined by his wife Grace.
Also buried with the Major & his wife are:
Eleanor Smith Whiting, John Evans age 10 mo. & Eleanor Evans Johnson, whose relationship to them & each other is yet unknown. There may be others in the plot, a full list has not been obtained.
