Ralph Christopher Lane was the son of Jennie Eleanor O'Brien and Milton Andrew Lane. He was born in Tower Hill, Illinois and was a 40-year resident of Chicago's Norwood Park neighborhood.

Ralph was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, and a member of the Norwood Park American Legion Post 740. He had worked for U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind., and as a yardmaster for the E.J. & E. Railroad.

He married Edith Cornelia Pitzer on June 3, 1933 in Chicago. She passed away in 1961. He is survived by his second wife, Lucille Castro Lane.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents and siblings Sylvia, Francis Malcolm, Effie Myrtle and Mary Fern.
