Robert enlisted in the Army at Erie, PA on 24 May 1943 shortly after his graduation from Franklin High School.

Pvt Lowrie completed basic training and parachutist jump school before he was shipped to England.

On 23 July 44 Pfc Lowrie was transferred from HQ 82d Airborne Division, Leicester, England to Company C, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Nottingham, England.

Pfc Lowrie was killed in action in Belgium on 7 January 1945.

His brother Harold E. Lowrie [Find A Grave Memorial #121923442] and a niece Melissa M. (Lowrie) Beach [Find A Grave Memorial #74243108] are also buried in this cemetery.
