US Congressman. He was a successful attorney who was counsel for the Intermediate Life Insurance Company and the son of Congressman George Kirkpatrick Denton. At the outbreak of World War II, he re-enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the Judge Advocate General's Department at Wright Field, Ohio. In 1948, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives from the 8th Indiana District and served two terms in the 81st and 82nd Congresses as a Democratic. Being defeated in the 1952 election, he returned to Congress in 1955 and served until 1967 in the 84th to 89th Congresses. He was also a World War I veteran and a member of the NATO Parliamentary Conference from 1959 to 1966.
