Augusta "Gusta" (Abrahams) Adler, a native of Germany, died of yellow fever on 6 September 1867 at New Orleans, Louisiana. Survivors included her husband, Newman, who died the following day, and their six daughters: Jennie, who married Max/Marx Lamensdorf; Lena, who remained single; Sarah, who married Emanuel Rosenfelder; Theresa, who remained single; Mary, who was adopted by Edward and Caroline Plonsky of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana; and Rachel, who died three months after her parents.
