Adam was a coal miner in PA, the 1920 census showed that he was a Footman, his job was to adjust the height of the gate in the chutes for the crusher and regulated the flow of crushed coal.

Catherine Mallo later turns out to be Adams sister Catherine Zelinski and she was married to Joseph Mallo.
