Robert Leslie McMahon was born in Arnold, Nebraska on June 6, 1929 to Harry and Mildred (Deming) McMahon. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1947; received a B.S. Degree from Kearney State College, Nebraska, in 1955; and later received his Masters degree in Science from Colorado State College in 1959.
Bob taught high school continuously from 1955 until he retired in 1991, starting with Nebraska High School at Clarks; and most notably at Katella High School in Anaheim CA from 1966 to 1991. Bob excelled at teaching, and was appointed Head of the Science Department and taught Biology. He received numerous awards, research grants, and honors. Since his retirement he has been constantly traveling and 'birding' (one of his biggest passions), and was very active in Senior Citizen Center activities. Bob also served in the U.S. Navy (Pacific/Korea) 1950-54.
Bob passed quietly in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday October 12, 2011. He is survived by his sister, Coralie (Ray) Ledford; sister, Barbara (Harold) Westman; sister-in-law, Dee McMahon; brother-in-law, Mahlon Denison; and many nieces and nephews.
Services on Wed., October 19, 2011 at El Camino Memorial in San Diego, California.
