ELIZABETH BUSCH BURKE (Age 76)

Died peacefully at her farm in the loving arms of husband of 52 years, Robert J. Burke, Sr. on December 20, 2011 in Upperville, VA. She was born February 22, 1935 in St. Louis, MO. daughter of the late August A. Busch Jr. and Elizabeth Overton Busch.

Elizabeth "LuvLuv" dedicated most of her life to her passions for horses and the business of showing horses. She was one of America's most celebrated supporters of equestrian sports. Over her lifetime, Burke's love of horse and her involvement in hunter jumper discipline are legendary. Her list of awards include her membership in the Virginia Hunter Jumper Hall of Fame, the American Horse Show Association Hall of Fame, this year was awarded the Virginia Horse Show Association Parent of the Year Award. her commitment to financially supporting a long list of events were renowned. She was an expert businesswoman serving on the Board of Directors of her beloved Upperville Horse Show, the Devon Horse Show, the Washington International Horse Show, the Lake Placid Horse Show, the Harrisburg Horse Show, the Syracuse International Horse Show, the St. Louis Zoo and The Hill School. She was a founding member of the Board of Directors of Stadium Jumping.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Jerome Burke, Sr., Upperville, VA; her sister, Carlotta Busch Webster, Pasadena, CA and Palm Beach, FL; her brother, August A. Busch, III and his wife, Virginia of St. Louis, MO; her beloved nephew, Stephen A. Busch of St. Louis, MO.

Also survived by sisters and brothers, Adolphus, Beatrice, Peter, Trudy, her beloved Billy and Andy; numerous nieces and nephews.

A greatest source of pride throughout her life, where her three children, Robert J. Burke, Jr. and his wife, Dorli and children, Robert J.Burke, III and Ashley, Salisbury, MD, Lisa Burke Horken and husband, Tony Horken and their children, Anthony and Brittney, Upperville, VA and Robyn Laura Burke, Free Union, VA.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 28 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Upperville, VA at 1 p.m.

She will indeed be missed.
