Robert Bain Broughton, 82, of Raleigh, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Rex Health Care, Raleigh. Mr. Broughton was born in Raleigh, NC on November 28, 1924, the son of the Late Governor and United States Senator Joseph Melville Broughton and Alice Harper Wilson Broughton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sumner Parham Broughton; children of the family, Sidney S. Campen, III and his wife, Wendy, Edwin Fuller Parham Broughton, Sumner Brooke Schwab, and Mary Broughton Markovich and her husband, Thomas; two sons, Robert and Justin Broughton; brother-in-law, Edward Pou Moran; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Broughton and children; niece, Margaret Clement Connolly and her husband, Rob; grandchildren, Sawyer Lynn Campen, Sumner Lauren Schwab; Atlee Brooke Schwab, Timothy Fuller Schwab, Tristen Bain Parham Broughton, Robert Owen Thorpe Markovich.
