EDGAR JONES JR. Passed away September 28, 2006, at his home in Pasadena, California. He was 77 years of age.

He was born in Buffalo, New York on October 19, 1928 to the union of Edgar and Samantha Jones Sr. He was the oldest of two children, his brother, Charles W. Jones preceded him in death.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1945 at the age of seventeen. He served three years in active service and was released into the reserves in 1948. He was called back into active duty to serve in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

He moved to Pasadena in 1948 and began working for the United States Postal Office. He went on to work for Atlantic Richfield Gas Station owned and operated by his close friend Jim Duncan.

He later worked for the Los Angeles County as a Power Equipment Mechanic for 36 years, where he remained until his retirement in 1988.

He was a loving father, father-in-law and grandfather. He was affectionately called "Granddaddy" by all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was respectfully known as "The Governor" by loved ones because of his wisdom and knowledge. He was always able to answer any question, no matter what subject.

He is survived by his wife, Polly; his son, Michael Edgar Jones Sr.; his daughter, Theresa Jones; his son, Anthony Jones; his daughters, Kimberly Jones-Robertson and Stephanie Jones; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. He will be missed everyday by all who loved him. WE LOVE YOU... To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me When I am gone, please release me Cry for a minute if you must But remember there are many things that I must now see and do. Thank the Lord for all of the years we had together; The good, the bad, the happy, the sad I stood through it all with you and you with me We did it all as family You will never know how much you've gi ven me Thanks for all the love you've shown but this is one road I must travel alone. So grieve for me awhile if you must, and let your grief be comforted by trust. And remember never, ever be afraid to die, for I am waiting in the sky. Remember me always and the love I felt for you Always love and take care of each other. Let nothing separate you. Yield not unto temptation, but follow the steps of the Lord always.

When God made Edgar (The Governor/Dad/Granddaddy), he did nothing else but sit around and feel good. May your star shine as brightly in Heaven as you did hear on earth. Rest on Edgar, Rest on.
