RICHARD EARL JAMES SR., 71, of 5122 Holly Court, Fairfield, who died Tuesday, was a retired employee of U. S. Steel Corp. He was a Mason and a member of Fairfield Baptist Church and National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was a native of Newport News, Va., and lived most of his life in Birmingham. Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m., Thursday at Elmwood Chapel with burial in Elmwood. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John L. Cain, Homewood; three sons, Richard E. James. Jr., Mountain Brook; Howard Paul James, Fresno, Calif., and Robert E. James, Birmingham; four sisters, Mrs. Richard Bell, Endwell, N. Y.; Mrs. Marion Hall, Newport, N. C.; Mrs. Gus Fechtel, Waycross, Ga., and Miss Elaine James, Kinston, N. C and two brothers, Harold James, Vestavia, and Robert James, Cuernavaca, Mexico.
