Lee Wesley "Rich" Richardson, age 93, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away at home April 5, 2003. Rich was born Dec. 25, 1909, in Waterloo, Ala., to Hiram and Jessie Richardson.
He made Pensacola his home since moving there in 1929, when he joined the U.S. Army. A veteran of World War II and Korea, he retired from the Army in 1954 after 25 years of service and remained in Pensacola the rest of his life. After retirement from the Army, he was a skillful cabinetmaker for many years. While in the Army, he enjoyed playing baseball and basketball for the Fort Barrancas team in the Pensacola City League. Rich was a member of Gadsden Street United Methodist Church.
Rich is lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Evelyn L. Nichols Richardson; one brother, Smythe David Richardson of Florence, Ala.; one brother-in-law, Jim Boykins of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Doris Nichols of Vacaville, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Bayview Memorial Park, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, with the Rev. Dan Rhodes officiating. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, Pensacola, is in charge of arrangements.
