Ignazio applied for naturalization on January 23, 1929 and was granted citizenship on November 27, 1934.
Ignazio died October 28, 1962 in Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Theresa Guarino, and two sons, Nicola and Frank. He was survived by his children Salvatore, Michael, Louis, Rose, Alfredo, Vincenzo "Jimmy", Anne, and Helen, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had two known siblings, both of Italy, Almerinda Madonna (1874-1877) and Michela Madonna (1870-1871).
